Bake That Dozen: Baseball Makes It 13 Straight Victories by Taking Two at Holy Family

Goldey-Beacom extended its school-record winning streak to 13 by taking two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games at Holy Family, 13-0 and 4-1 in Philadelphia, PA.

The Lightning (20-6, 10-0 CACC) also made it a team-best 12 straight league victories dating to last season and continued their top CACC start in squad annals.

Game one saw junior Anthony Charles (Mullica Hill, NJ) homer in the sixth inning as part of a four-run frame.  Senior Matt Benner (Souderton, PA) added a two-run single later in the inning to make it 8-0.

Five runs in the seventh helped ends things via the run rule with sophomore Bobby Stewart (Newark, DE) and senior Adam McEvoy (Sewell, NJ) each getting an RBI double.

McEvoy closed 3-for-3, freshman Brent Williams (Woodstown, NJ) notched three RBI and Stewart homered for the Lightning.  Mechanicsburg, PA junior Nate Miller (2-0) struck out seven in tossing a two-hit shutout, his second career shutout and first since a three-hit shutout last season vs. Post in the NCAA Tournament.

Trailing 1-0 in the fourth inning of game two with two out and none on, Goldey-Beacom rallied for all four of its runs.  Braden Kolmansberger (Lewisberry, PA) singled, fellow senior Mitch Jolikko (Middletown, DE) walked with both scoring on a double from McEvoy.  Senior Dante DiSabatino (Middletown, DE) followed with a run-scoring double and Benner followed with an RBI single.

Holy Family in the seventh got a pair of one-out walks and Jalen David lined out before senior Wyatt Atkinson (Moorestown, NJ) was called out of the bullpen.  Atkinson, who got two huge fielder's choice outs Wednesday against Caldwell, today induced Brian Comer on a flyout to end it.

Kolmansberger had three hits, Hagerstown, MD senior Mikey Hawbaker (3-1) struck out four over five innings and Atkinson notched his second career save.

Stefan Leo homered for the Tigers (10-12, 5-5).

These teams are right back at it Sunday with another noon doubleheader, this time at Doyle Field in Hockessin.
