Baseball Handed 10-1 Loss by Millersville

Goldey-Beacom looked to get back to its winning ways against another strong program, but was dealt a 10-1 loss by Millersville at Doyle Field in Hockessin, DE.

It was the third matchup of the weekend between these two schools which both received votes in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association national poll.  Unfortunately, the Marauders (5-1) grabbed all three contests in running their winning streak to five games.

Keegan Soltis, who had three RBI on the day, got his squad's first two.  He lined an RBI single in the top of the first inning for a 1-0 Millersville lead and drove one in on a fielder's choice to double the margin.

Bren Taylor had two hits and two RBI for the Marauders with Jeff Sabater and Amani Jones each getting two hits apiece.

But the real story for Millersville was Garet Blankenbiller, who struck out six over five innings and allowed just one hit.

Senior Christian Petrillo (New Brunswick, NJ) rapped two hits and senior Adam McEvoy (Sewell, NJ) crushed a solo homer for his third career long ball for the Lightning (5-5).  Senior Mikey Hawbaker (Hagerstown, MD) struck out four over four innings.

Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday is home against Bloomsburg, starting at 2:00 pm.
