Goldey-Beacom's final tilt before play begins in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference ended with a 9-2 triumph at Queens (NY) in Flushing, NY.
The Lightning got things going in the first inning. Senior Braden Kolmansberger (Lewisberry, PA) lined a one-out single and took second when junior Anthony Charles (Mullica Hill, NJ) dropped a perfect bunt single. Both advanced on a stolen base before a throwing error scored Kolmansberger for a 1-0 GBC lead.
The Knights got a 1-1 tie in the last of the third when Robert Jacobsen cracked a two-out homer to right field.
It remained tied entering the fifth, when the Lightning struck for three runs. Matt Benner (Souderton, PA) scored from second base thanks to a pair of errors and fellow senior Jaden Dickerson (New Castle, DE) roped a two-run single to center, plating senior Christian Petrillo (New Brunswick, NJ) and Charles for a 4-1 margin.
It became 7-1 in the eighth when Goldey-Beacom got three more. Petrillo lined a two-RBI double and senior Mitch Jolikko (Middletown, DE) added an RBI double.
The Lightning (10-6) then got an RBI single from Kolmansberger and a sacrifice fly from Charles for a 9-2 cushion.
Dickerson and Petrillo both had two hits and two RBI with Charles getting three stolen bases. Mount Bethel, PA junior Kevin Dillon (1-0) struck out four over three innings after junior Connor Blence (Downingtown, PA) tossed the first three frames.
Jacobsen and Michael Vilardi each had two hits for the Knights (5-7).
Goldey-Beacom next Tuesday visits Georgian Court for a 2:00 pm doubleheader in Jackson, NJ.
