Baseball Drops Two at Millersville

In a matchup of teams that received votes this week in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association national poll, Goldey-Beacom was dealt a pair of losses by scores of 15-6 and 8-2 at Millersville in Millersville, PA.

The first game provided optimism as Goldey-Beacom took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning.  Senior Dante DiSabatino (Middletown, DE) lined a two-run single and freshman Zach Smethers (Nazareth, PA) continued his outstanding start with an RBI single.

But the Marauders plated seven runs in the fifth for a 10-3 lead.  Matthew Williams cracked a solo homer and Jeff Sabater added a two-run single.

Senior Jaden Dickerson (New Castle, DE) cracked a solo homer in the sixth for the Lightning, but Williams closed the scoring with a two-run blast in the bottom of the inning.

Bren Taylor had three hits for Millersville.

The Marauders in game two plated four runs in the seventh for a 7-2 lead, aided by Sam Morris' three-run homer.

Freshman George Starr (Franklinville, NJ) again pitched solidly with six strikeouts over six innings for the Lightning (5-4).  Senior Matt Benner (Souderton, PA) rapped two hits.

Connor Blantz struck out 10 over six innings with Morris getting three hits for Millersville (4-1).
