Camilla Franzin and Lucia Corte Each Listed in the ITA East Region Rankings

Another impressive fall for Goldey-Beacom's Women's Tennis team saw sophomore Camilla Franzin (Trieste, Italy) and senior Lucia Corte (Gijon, Spain) each make the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Division II East Region Rankings.

The duo is ranked seventh in doubles and Franzin is 19th in singles. The ITA uses a computerized algorithm to determine its rankings.

Franzin had an exceptional season that saw her go 6-1 in singles, all at first singles. She closed the fall with a five-match winning streak and led Wilmington's Siana MacDonald, 6-4, 2-1, in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference semifinals before her match was interrupted.

The doubles tandem recorded a 6-1 mark with all matches at first doubles. They opened with a 4-0 mark and closed it by defeating Wilmington's No. 1 duo of Molly Carlberg and Ming-Fu Chen in the CACC semifinals.

The Lightning made it back to the CACC Tournament for the second consecutive year, clinching the third seed for championship weekend. In addition to the aforementioned honors, freshman Jenna Frank (Ulm, Germany) was named second team all-league and Goldey-Beacom won the CACC Sportsmanship Award.

Goldey-Beacom opens its spring campaign March 20 at home against West Chester.
