Emarquis Jones Picked CACC Men’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week; Tre Powell Named to the Weekly Honor Roll A Third Time

Goldey-Beacom saw junior guard/forward Emarquis Jones (Brooklyn, NY) named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week and sophomore guard Tre Powell (Mount Laurel, NJ) picked to the league's Weekly Honor Roll a third time in as many weeks.

Jones had 16 rebounds, six steals and three blocks over two games. He had nine rebounds and four steals Sunday at Dominican after getting seven and two Tuesday at Caldwell in Goldey-Beacom's 66-65 victory.

Jones has scored in double figures each of his last five games, averaging 15.0 points in that stretch which includes 23 points November 15 at the District of Columbia.

Powell averaged 14.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 6.0 assists over two games. He had 14 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists Sunday at Dominican after scoring 14 points Tuesday at Caldwell.

Once again showing a deft scoring touch, Powell has scored in double figures all six games this season and at least 20 points three times. He netted 23 points November 21 vs. West Chester, 22 on November 14 vs. D'Youville and 21 on November 18 at Bowie State.

Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday hosts Chestnut Hill in an 8:00 pm contest.
