Volleyball Wins its Fifth Straight, 3-0 at Chestnut Hill

Goldey-Beacom moved into a first-place tie in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference South Division with its fifth consecutive victory, 3-0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-18) at Chestnut Hill in Philadelphia, PA.
 
A dominant first set saw the Lightning pound 12 kills with just two errors over 20 swings for a .500 hitting percentage, vs. a .045 mark for the Griffins.  Junior Giuliana Jaku (Belluno, Italy) notched five kills in the set and sophomore Juliana Malena (Miami, FL), the current CACC Setter of the Week, dished seven assists.
 
The second set saw Goldey-Beacom end things on an 8-4 run, closing the stanza with 14 kills and a .333 percentage.  Sophomore Gabi Fullwood (Powder Springs, GA) notched five kills in the set with Jaku and junior Baylee Brin (Salina, KS) getting three apiece.
 
The Lightning finalized things with a 16-11 run thanks to four kills from Fullwood and three from Jaku.  Fullwood ended the set with five kills and Goldey-Beacom amassed 13 with a .345 percentage.
 
Fullwood overall had 11 kills and a .526 percentage, Jaku totaled 11 and .455, Malena dished 32 assists and sophomore Gaby Fernandez (Arecibo, PR), the reigning CACC Defensive Player of the Week, added 11 digs.
 
Maya Hopson recorded nine kills and Sofia Rodriguez added 26 digs for Chestnut Hill (5-21, 2-12 CACC).
 
Goldey-Beacom (16-11, 10-4) is level with Holy Family (10-4) and Wilmington (10-4) atop the division with one match remaining.  Goldey-Beacom on Saturday hosts Wilmington (DE) on Senior Day, beginning at noon, and Holy Family is at Chestnut Hill.
