Women’s Soccer Ties With Saint Thomas Aquinas

Goldey-Beacom women's soccer faced Saint Thomas Aquinas in non-conference action in Sparkill, NY and ended with a 1-1 tie.

The Lightning scored early on in the first half in the seventh minute when junior Lexy Yeager (West Deptford, N.J.) found the back of the net off an assist from sophomore Ryley Dixon (Pilesgrove, N.J.) for her second goal of the season. GBC defense held strong the remainder of the half and went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.


Saint Thomas Aquinas evened the score in the 66th minute on a goal from Sarai Rodriguez that was assisted by Ninni Ringstad. The rest of the game remained scoreless and the Lightning picked up their third tie for the reason, extending their unbeaten streak to five (2-0-3).


Yeager led the offense with five shots and freshman Malaika Nunziata (Cape Town, South Africa) finished with six saves. STAC was led by Ringstad with four shots and Haley Liss with three shots.


Goldey-Beacom resumes Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play on Saturday, where they host Bridgeport at the Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE for a noon match.
