Volleyball Records 3-0 Triumph Over Chestnut Hill

Goldey-Beacom won a thriller in the opening set and cruised in the last two for a 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory (26-24, 25-15, 25-17) over Chestnut Hill at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.
 
The first saw things level at 24 before the Lightning (9-8, 3-2 CACC) grabbed the last two points.  Junior Giuliana Jaku (Belluno, Italy) pounded home a kill for a 25-24 lead and sophomore Gabi Fullwood (Powder Springs, GA) blocked Kate Hanley's attack to end it.
 
The last two sets were no contest with Goldey-Beacom combining for a 50-32 margin on the scoreboard, 20-11 in kills and .309 to -.082 in hitting percentage.
 
Gaby Fernandez (Arecibo, PR), the reigning CACC Defensive Player of the Week, recorded 15 digs with fellow sophomore Juliana Malena (Miami, FL) totaling 21 assists.  Jaku and Fullwood notched seven kills apiece with junior Baylee Brin (Salina, KS) adding six.
 
Hanley notched 11 kills with Sofia Rodriguez adding 25 assists for the Griffins (3-9, 1-4).
 
Goldey-Beacom on Saturday is at Dominican (NY) for a noon match.
