Homecoming weekend saw Goldey-Beacom host a doubleheader in soccer matches, with the women ending in a 1-1 tie with Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opponent Felician.
The first half of play remained scoreless, but the Lightning played strong on the offensive end, taking nine shots. Felician jumped out to a 1-0 lead early in the second half on a goal from Evee Augustine, assisted by Melanie Perez, in the 56th minute.
Goldey-Beacom battled back and evened the score 1-1 when sophomore Ryley Dixon (Pilesgrove, N.J.) found the back of the net off of an assist from Tess Pearce (Manchester, England). Both teams saw opportunities to score the winning goal, but strong defense from both sides led to a 1-1 draw.
Freshman Malaika Nunziata (Cape Town, South Africa) finished with three saves for the Lightning and Isabella Riollano had seven saves for the Golden Falcons.
Goldey-Beacom plays next on Wednesday, where they face Saint Thomas Aquinas in Sparkill, NY at 3:00pm.
