Volleyball Dealt Heartbreaking Loss, 3-2, by Post

Goldey-Beacom rallied from two sets down to force a fifth set, only to be handed a tough 3-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss (22-25, 23-25, 25-17, 25-17, 9-15) by Post at the Jones Center in Wilmington. DE.
 
The third set saw the Lightning explode out of the gate with a 19-9 lead and they held on from there, forcing the Eagles into nine errors and a -.023 hitting percentage.  The fourth set saw GBC end things on a 13-7 run thanks to four kills from junior Baylee Brin (Salina, KS) and three from sophomore Gabi Fullwood (Powder Springs, GA).
 
Goldey-Beacom (8-8, 2-2 CACC) in that set notched a 15-9 kills edge and amassed a .297 hitting percentage.
 
Post (12-2, 3-0) in the fifth opened an 11-5 lead, but the Lightning scored the four aided by a kill each from Fullwood and junior Giuliana Jaku (Belluno, Italy).  But the Eagles rattled off the last four points, getting a kill from Alice DiFrancesco to end it.
 
Sophomore Juliana Malena (Miami, FL) recorded 29 assists and 12 digs for her eighth double-double of the season for GBC and sixth in the last seven matches.  Fullwood had 14 kills and eight blocks, sophomore Gaby Fernandez (Arecibo, PR) continued to be a star with 34 digs, Brin notched 13 kills with Jaku getting 11 and 18 digs.
 
Kristina Peric had 22 kills, Alyssa Groves recorded 25 digs with DiFrancesco amassing 34 assists for the Eagles.
 
Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday hosts Chestnut Hill for a 7:00 pm match.
