Volleyball Falls, 3-0, to Bowie State

Goldey-Beacom had its hands full with a very tough Bowie State unit and dropped a competitive 3-0 contest (20-25, 26-28, 23-25) at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.
 
The second set was an enthralling one in which the Lightning rallied from 18-14 down to forge a 20-20 tie, helping by two kills from junior Baylee Brin (Salina, KS) in the run.  But at 26-26, the Bulldogs benefitted from two attack errors to score the set's final two points.
 
The third also was a nailbiter in which Goldey-Beacom owned a 23-22 cushion.  But Nicole Taylor pounded the last three kills to end things.
 
Juliana Malena (Miami, FL) had 28 assists and 14 digs for her 11th double-double of the season, fellow sophomore Gaby Fernandez (Arecibo, PR) recorded 16 digs with freshman Kelci Gingras (Orem, UT) adding eight kills and nine digs for GBC (11-11).
 
Nina Edwards had 12 kills and a .579 hitting percentage with Mekenna Scott dishing 22 assists for Bowie State (10-14).
 
Goldey-Beacom next Wednesday returns to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play at Jefferson, beginning at 6:00 pm.
