Goldey-Beacom women's soccer played CACC opponent, Post, on the road in Waterbury, CT and came away with a huge 6-2 victory. This victory secured the school record for longest unbeaten streak with eight straight. The eight-game unbeaten streak (5-0-3) surpasses the record from 2017, when Goldey-Beacom started the season 6-0-1.
The Lightning started their scoring early, with a goal in the 10th minute from Junior Jade Balon (Townsend, Del.), assisted by sophomore Tess Pearce (Manchester, England). GBC then saw back-to-back goals in the 29th and 31st minute by sophomore Ella Badra (Caracas, Venezuela) assisted by junior Tamara Trumic (Spiegelberg, Germany) and freshman Maria Munoz (Cascais, Portugal), and by sophomore Jessica Jensen (Las Vegas, Nev.), assisted by freshman Maddie Strayer (York, PA) and senior Sofia Bolado Vega (Cantabria, Spain).
Post put themselves on the board in the 48th minute on a goal from Zoe Mier that was assisted by Audrey Cadman and Jordyn Calas. Goldey-Beacom had a quick response in the 49th minute when Pearce found sophomore Ryley Dixon (Pilesgrove, N.J.) for her seventh goal of the season. Jensen scored her second goal of the game in the 58th minute, this time assisted by freshmen Stine Solvik (Kristiansand, Norway) and Nova Gafvert (Eskilstuna, Sweden). GBC finished their impressive play with a sixth goal on the 77th minute from sophomore Tami Garcia that was assisted by Strayer and Dixon.
Post found the back of the net once more in the 84th minute when Rhee Morrison scored on an assist from Cadman.
Freshman Malaika Nunziata (Cape Town, South Africa) finished with three saves for the Lightning and Aryn Nisbest had seven saves for Post.
Goldey-Beacom plays next on Wednesday, when it faces Jefferson for a 3:00 pm match at the Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.
