Volleyball Handed Painful 3-2 Loss at Wilmington (DE)

Goldey-Beacom was locked in a thrilling battle among two strong teams from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's South Division, but was dealt a 3-2 loss (25-15, 19-25, 25-19, 22-25, 13-15) at Wilmington in Newark, DE.
 
Goldey-Beacom in the first set gained a 14-8 kills edge, held Wilmington to a mere .057 hitting percentage and closed the set on a 13-5 run.  Sophomore Gabi Fullwood (Powder Springs, GA) had four kills on four swings in the frame with freshman Kelci Gingras (Orem, UT) also getting four kills. 
 
The Lightning in the third set regained the match lead with a 17-9 kills advantage thanks to four kills apiece from juniors Baylee Brin (Salina, KS) and Giuliana Jaku (Belluno, Italy).  GBC did own a 13-11 kills edge in the fourth set, but could not overcome 10 attack errors.
 
The fifth set was thrilling to watch, but the result was not.  Wilmington ended the set with an 11-7 run and only committed one error overall, recording a .267 percentage to just .091 for Goldey-Beacom.
 
Gingras had 16 kills and 15 digs for her fourth double-double of the year, sophomore Juliana Malena (Miami, FL) recorded 35 assists and 17 digs for her ninth double-double and Jaku amassed 13 kills and 25 digs for her third double-double.  Fullwood pounded 13 kills and Brin added 12 for the Lightning (10-9, 4-3 CACC).
 
Karla Nunez-Rivera and Addison Hoover had 14 kills apiece with Christine Covello adding 23 assists for the Wildcats (11-8, 7-1).
 
Goldey-Beacom on Saturday is at Felician for a 1:00 pm match in Rutherford, NJ.
