Goldey-Beacom women's soccer could not overcome a two-goal deficit to Chestnut Hill in the second half and dropped the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match, 2-1, at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.
Chestnut Hill (1-2-1, 1-1 CACC) scored early in the match off of a goal by Alyssa DeGeorge, assisted by Lauren Sullivan. The remainder of the half saw the Lightning on the defensive end for the majority of the time, with Chestnut Hill taking 10 shots.
DeGeorge scored again for Chestnut Hill in the 46th minute off an assist from Rebecca Dalton and Jenna Gagliardi.
Goldey-Beacom scored in the 59th minute when sophomore Lexy Yeager (West Deptford, N.J.) capitalized on a pass from senior Lexi Coppola (Turnersville, N.J.) and beat her defender for her second goal of the season. The Lightning (1-6, 0-2) were unable to find the back of the net the remainder of the match and ended up dropping their second CACC game.
Freshman Ryley Dixon (Pilesgrove, N.J.) led for GBC with three shots and senior goalie Nikki Cashin (Ridley, Pa.) finished with four saves.
Goldey-Beacom plays CACC opponent Caldwell on Saturday in Caldwell, NJ at 11am.
