Goldey-Beacom men's soccer was victorious in its conference opener against Bridgeport, recording a 2-0 victory.

The first half saw equal play from both teams and the match remained scoreless for the first 45 minutes. Goldey-Beacom outshot its opponents in the half, taking 10 shots compared to Bridgeport's seven .

The second half saw more action, with junior Emanuel Bustos (Miami, Fla.) scoring in the 59th minute off an assist from Ogün Unal (Frankfurt, Germany). This was Bustos's second goal of the season. Freshman Sam Ball (Salisbury, Md.) then scored his second goal of the season in the 84th minute, off another assist from Unal, lifting the Lightning to a 2-0 victory. Bridgeport had several chances in the half to score, but was unable to capitalize on the opportunities. Junior Derrick Muhire (Kigali, Rwanda) added three shots of his own in an attempt to increase Goldey-Beacom's lead.

Junior goalkeeper Jamel Yasin (Woodbury, N.J.) finished with three saves for the Lightning.

Lapo Romieri led Bridgeport in shots, taking three. Bridgeport's goalkeeper, Hugo Franceschi, also ended the match with three saves.

Goldey-Beacom plays Chestnut Hill on Tuesday at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE, with kickoff at 4pm.
