Goldey-Beacom saw its first Esports game in school history unfortunately end in an 2-0 loss to Florida International.
Competing in Valorant, the Lightning played very well on defense throughout the night but struggled to get momentum on offense. Junior David "Toon3rd" Hale had the most kills on the first map Sunset, with 19, as well as five first bloods (opening kills).
Freshman Caleb "Hatch" Visinsky had the most kills on the second map, Haven, with 25 and added six first bloods (opening kills). The Lightning held an impressive 9-3 lead on defense in the second map, Haven, but could not get any momentum for offense.
The match raises the curtain on the College's 14th sport, a scholarshiped program led by coach David Lawrie. A massive renovation in the campus' Fulmer Center annex cleared the way for a new arena that features all the modern technology in one of collegiate athletics rising sports.
The next match will be played September 18 at 7:00 pm against Akron, also in the new Esports arena.
