Goldey-Beacom was handed a tough 1-0 loss against Bloomsburg, unable to capitalize on a last minute opportunity.
Goldey-Beacom was on the offensive end for the majority of the first half, with seven of its 11 shots being taken in the half. Freshman Johs Herden (Borgholzhausen, Germany) took the most shots for the Lightning with 4, 1 being on goal. Freshman Ogün Ünal (Frankfurt, Germany) added three shots on goal for Goldey-Beacom.
Roles were reversed in the second half, with Bloomsburg taking the offensive end and scoring early with a header by Sam Blumberger, assisted by Kody Besser, in the 51st minute. This was Blumberger's first goal of the season.
The Lightning had an opportunity with only seconds remaining to tie and send the game to overtime, but were unable to capitalize on the opportunity and ended the game with a loss.
Bloomsburg goalie Brady Rimple ended with seven saves and Goldey-Beacom's Jamel Yasin (Woodbury, N.J.) had two.
Goldey-Beacom hosts Pittsburgh-Johnstown on Saturday at 1pm, with the women's team to follow at 3:30 pm against Pace.
