8/5/2024 12:00:00 AM

(2024 schedule)

Goldey-Beacom's Men's Soccer program looks to get back on the winning track with several keys players returning against a tough 2024 schedule.

The campaign opens September 5 at Saint Thomas Aquinas before a four-game homestand, which starts three days later versus the District of Columbia.

Play in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opens September 21 at Bridgeport before GBC hosts Chestnut Hill three days later.  GBC then goes on a two-game trip to visit Caldwell on September 28 and Washington Adventist on October 3.

Homecoming & Lightning Family Weekend features a contest October 5 against five-time defending CACC champion Post.  The weekend's events include opportunities for alums to come back on campus to reunite with many friends and also see the many changes that many who continue to be part of the family help ignite.  It also will give an opportunity for parents to come on campus and spend time with their kids as part of an atmosphere filled with festivities and fun.

A late-season stretch will be key with road games October 22 at Jefferson and October 30 at Georgian Court.  GBC on November 2 hosts Bloomfield, steps out of conference two days later to host Shepherd and on November 7 ends league play at Wilmington (DE).

In a format change, each CACC quarterfinal and semifinal game will be held at the higher seed.  The quarterfinals are November 10, the semifinals are the 13th and the final is the 17th in Newark, DE.

A key player back is senior Sincere Kato (Woodbury, NJ), a solid forward who possesses great footwork and outstanding skills that are contagious among others.  Competing in 43 games during his time, Kato last year played in 17 games and closed with seven points.

Senior Cameron Michalak (Elkton, MD) for the last three years has been an immense part of this team with his smart play and hard work.  A key player who last season helped the Lightning record three clean sheets, Michalak the last two years has been named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District.

Senior Dominique Ojeil (Falkenberg, Sweden) has competed in 43 games at forward over the last three seasons and looks to continue play a big role at forward.  A great playmaker, Ojeil has made 17 starts during his time.

Goldey-Beacom last season rallied from a zero-win season in 2022 and picked to end 11th the preseason coaches poll to close eighth and make the CACC quarterfinals.  GBC ended the regular season with five results in its last eight league contests and overall amassed eight multi-goal games.
