Goldey-Beacom had its offense going in both of today's games, but was eliminated from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament with losses of 9-8 to Post and 12-8 to Jefferson in Waterbury, CT.
Goldey-Beacom (33-19) now awaits word on whether it will be selected to compete in the NCAA Tournament for a third time in school history. The squad is fourth in the East Region with an impressive resume that includes two wins against Jefferson (second in the region), two vs. Post (fifth), three over D'Youville (seventh), two against Queens-NY (eighth) and one vs. Felician (ninth).
The tournament's selection show is Sunday, May 12 at 10:00 pm on NCAA.com.
A pitchers' duel in the Post game that saw both teams over the first three innings combine for no runs and two hits ended with nine runs and five hits in the fourth and Post owning a 5-4 lead.
The Lightning in the top of the fourth did not need a hit, taking advantage of two errors, three walks, a hit batter and four, two-out runs for a 4-0 cushion. The squad's two-out magic, seemingly a staple of the team's gutty approach, again shined in the spotlight with Dante DiSabatino (Middletown, DE) and fellow junior Adam McEvoy (Sewell, NJ) drawing bases-loaded walks.  Junior Christian Petrillo (New Brunswick, NJ) followed by being hit by a pitch and DiSabatino crossed home on a passed ball.
The Eagles in the last of the frame made up for it with Jaylen Kelley hitting a three-run homer, Michael Pavelchak getting an RBI single to level things and Evan Cornwell following with his own run-scoring single for a 5-4 game.
GBC got three in the fifth for a 7-5 lead on an RBI single from sophomore Anthony Charles (Mullica Hill, NJ) and a two-run error off DiSabatino's fly ball. Kelley cracked a two-out homer later in the frame for a one-run contest.
DiSabatino and Post's Hunter Keller traded RBI singles in the seventh before the host school squared things in the eighth. Pavelchak drew a leadoff walk, was sacrificed to second by Cornell and scored on Jimmy Brennan's single to right.
The Lightning looked like they were going to take the lead with one out in the top of the ninth. DiSabatino lifted one in foul territory that left fielder DJ Caron elected to catch with Charles at third. Not only did Caron catch it, he threw out Charles on a close play at the plate to end the inning.
The Eagles carried that momentum into the last of the frame. Justin Rivera led off with a single, Kelley got pinch-runner John Onofrio to second on a single and Danny Gill ended it with an RBI single to deep left-center field.
Senior Kyle Walker (Wilmington, DE) had two hits for the Lightning. Kelley went 4-for-4 with Pavelchak, Cornell, Keller and Gill all getting two hits for the Eagles (26-19).
The Jefferson game was another scoring barrage, which saw senior Darin Miller (Mifflinburg, PA) open things with a two-run single in the top of the first inning. The Rams got a three-run homer from Joshua Lopez in the bottom of the frame for a 3-2 lead and a two-run blast from Marquise Wood in the third for a 5-3 margin.
The Lightning in the fourth took a 6-5 lead thanks to DiSabatino's two-run double and McEvoy's sacrifice fly. But the Rams answered with three in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single from Justin Egner and a two-run homer from Chris McLean, making it 8-6.
GBC again showed no quit, seeing Walker hustle home on a wild pitch in the fifth and senior Garrett Musey (Millville, NJ) cross home on a wild pitch in the seventh for an 8-8 game.
However, Jefferson again regained the lead when Gabe Silva lined an RBI single in the eighth for a 9-8 contest. Diego Santiago added a run-scoring single in the seventh, Jordan Tiburcio scored on a throwing error in the eighth and Silva was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded later in the inning.
Miller had three hits with Walker and Petrillo adding two apiece. Sophomore Nate Miller (Mechanicsburg, PA) came out of the bullpen to strike out five over 4 2/3 innings.
Egner recorded three hits with Wood and Santiago getting two apiece for the Rams (31-14). Anthony Pillari struck out five over the last 4 2/3 frames out of the bullpen.
