Braden Kolmansberger Continues to Do Yard Work, Lifting Baseball to 14-3 Triumph Over Holy Family

Junior Braden Kolmansberger (Lewisberry, PA) tied the school record with three home runs and also had five RBI, continuing an astounding run in Goldey-Beacom's 14-3 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference triumph over Holy Family at Doyle Field in Hockessin, DE.

As almost if on cue, Kolmansberger stepped up in the last of the first inning and belted a solo home run to forge a 1-1 tie.  He crushed a two-run blast in the second to make it 8-1 and in the fifth added another two-run shot for a 14-3 contest.

During his amazing 16-game hitting streak, Kolmansberger is batting .569 (33-for-58) with six doubles, a triple, 10 home runs and 37 RBI.  He also has a .603 on-base percentage and a stunning 1.224 slugging percentage.

The two-time CACC Player of the Week and one-time National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association East Region Hitter of the Week this season now is second in school history with 102 RBI, fourth with 137 hits and tied for sixth with 13 home runs.  His three home runs today equals that of Connor Megginson, who accomplished this May 4, 2021 against Post.

Also of note is senior Kyle Walker (Wilmington, DE) getting two hits in raising his school-record total to 201.  He crushed a three-run homer in the fourth, his ninth career long ball, for a 12-2 GBC lead.

The Lightning set the tone during a six-run first inning for a 6-1 lead.  After Kolmansberger's home run, Darin Miller (Mifflinburg, PA) hit a solo blast, fellow senior Demetrius Johnson (Glassboro, NJ) lined a two-run double and junior Matt Benner (Souderton, PA) added a two-run single.

Miller and Johnson had two hits and two RBI apiece with junior Christian Petrillo (New Brunswick, NJ) getting two hits for the Lightning.  Mount Bethel, PA sophomore Kevin Dillon (4-1) struck out four over six innings, allowing just three runs – two earned – and six hits.

Dalton Turner had an RBI single and Jon Martinez added a sacrifice fly for Holy Family (14-18, 6-7 CACC).

Goldey-Beacom (21-11, 7-3), ranked second all season in the East Region according to the NCBWA, moves into first place in the CACC South Division and is on a five-game winning streak.

Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday hosts Lincoln (PA) for a noon doubleheader.
