Baseball Drops Two at Bridgeport



Junior Braden Kolmansberger (Lewisberry, PA) extended his hitting streak to 26 games to tie the school record in Goldey-Beacom's two losses, 6-0 and 9-1, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play against Bridgeport in Bridgeport, CT.
 
Bridgeport rallied for three runs in the second inning of game one on two-run singles and a stolen base for a 3-0 lead, with a further three runs coming in the fifth for the 6-0 win.
 
Kolmansberger, senior Darin Miller (Mifflinburg, PA) and juniors Christian Petrillo (New Brunswick, NJ) and Jimmy Hallman (Washington Township, NJ) finished with one hit apiece.
 
Game two saw a similar start with a 3-0 lead in favor of Bridgeport, but Kolmansberger cut the score to 3-1 with an RBI groundout to score senior Demetrius Johnson (Glassboro, NJ), who reached via a walk.
 
Despite a glimpse of hope, Bridgeport tallied six runs in the fifth off two RBI doubles, one RBI single and a wild pitch.
 
Petrillo closed with two hits and Kolmansberger had one hit and one RBI for GBC (27-16, 11-8 CACC).  Kolmansberger now shares the top spot with senior Kyle Walker (Wilmington, DE), who had a 26-game hitting streak last season.
 
Christian Ortiz had two hits and four RBI and Jaden Echevarria had two hits and two RBI. Justin Nyarady and Joaquin Brasher totaled 11 strikeouts between them for Bridgeport (10-27, 8-11).
 
Goldey-Beacom hosts Wilmington (DE) on Tuesday in a 2:00 pm single game matchup at Doyle Field in Wilmington, DE.
