Braden Kolmansberger’s Walk-Off Home Run Propels Baseball to Doubleheader Split vs. Chestnut Hill

Junior Braden Kolmansberger (Lewisberry, PA) ended a wild day with a two-run, walk-off home run in the last of the seventh inning for Goldey-Beacom in a 6-4 victory over Chestnut Hill after a 5-2 setback in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play in Wilmington, DE.

Junior Christian Petrillo (New Brunswick, NJ) got the rally going with a two-out single and then it was Kolmansberger's turn.  The latter was looking at potentially one of his last chances to extend his hitting streak and he came through, crushing a no-doubt home run in putting his run at 24 games.

Kolmansberger now is hitting .511 (46-for-90) during his streak with 10 doubles, a triple, 11 home runs and 46 RBI.  This trails the school record of 26 consecutive games, set last season by senior Kyle Walker (Wilmington, DE).

Junior Mitch Jolikko (Middletown, DE) had two hits and three RBI with Walker rapping two hits.  Sophomore Nate Miller (Mechanicsburg, PA) struck out four over six innings in a tough no-decision and junior Mikey Hawbaker (Hagerstown, MD) pitched the seventh for the win.

Jake Schweiker was handed a tough loss, striking out five over 6 2/3 frames for Chestnut Hill (11-26, 5-13 CACC).  Dylan Broderick created the 4-4 tie with a two-run homer in the sixth.

Senior Darin Miller (Mifflinburg, PA) homered for the Lightning in game one as he and Kolmansberger each had two hits, but it was not enough.  Aiden Myers, Alexander Fascia and Michael Pascoe all had two hits for the Griffins.

Broderick struck out five over seven innings for the win and Marlon Rose fanned two over two innings for the save.

Goldey-Beacom (27-14, 11-6) now sits second in the CACC South Division by percentage points over Wilmington (12-7) and one game behind Jefferson (12-5).

Goldey-Beacom on Sunday is at Bridgeport for a noon doubleheader.
