Baseball Notches 7-1 Victory at Chestnut Hill

Goldey-Beacom opened its three-game series against Chestnut Hill with a comfortable 7-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory in North Wales, PA.

The Lightning were ready from the get-go, opening with two first-inning runs. Having reached via a single, junior Christian Petrillo (New Brunswick, NJ) made his way back to home plate via a defensive error, before a sacrifice fly from sophomore Anthony Charles (Mullica Hill, NJ) gave a 2-0 lead.

Junior Adam McEvoy (Sewell, NJ) notched two further runs in the second after lining a two-run homer to left field.

Petrillo found himself in the play once again in the fourth with a bunt to score junior Dante DiSabatino (Middletown, DE). The lead was stretched to 5-0 following a fielder's choice play for junior Braden Kolmansberger (Lewisberry, PA) to score senior Demetrius Johnson (Glassboro, NJ).

Goldey-Beacom's final run came in the sixth inning off an RBI double from Kolmansberger fired to left-center field.

Chestnut Hill tallied a single run in the sixth off Justin Geiger in the 7-1 Lightning triumph.

Petrillo closed 3-for-5 with one RBI, with Kolmansberger and McEvoy each finishing with two hits and two RBI. Senior Jake Kelchner (Collegeville, PA) pitched a solid game, striking out seven over 5 2/3 innings for GBC (26-13, 10-5 CACC).

Phoenix Bowman had three hits and Geiger added two for Chestnut Hill (12-25, 6-12).

Goldey-Beacom concludes the series with Chestnut Hill on Saturday in a noon doubleheader at Doyle Field in Wilmington, DE.
