Baseball Smashes School Records in Doubleheader Split at Holy Family

Goldey-Beacom re-wrote its record book in a 31-6 victory at Holy Family after it was handed a 5-3 loss in game one, both Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games at FDR Park in Philadelphia.

The nightcap was one for the research department with the 31 runs, 27 RBI, 23 hits, 25-run victory and 10 stolen bases all establishing programs marks.  The four triples ties the school record.

Junior Braden Kolmansberger (Lewisberry, PA) continued to swing a hot bat, recording three hits and three RBI in running his hitting streak to 19 games.  Sophomore Anthony Charles (Mullica Hill, NJ) homered as part of his two hits and four RBI, junior Calen Kampes (Colora, MD) also went deep as part of his two hits and three RBI with senior Darin Miller (Mifflinburg, PA) belting a three-run homer.

Christian Petrillo (New Brunswick, NJ) recorded three hits and two RBI with fellow junior Matt Benner (Souderton, PA) and freshman Owen Knerr (Ocean City, MD) getting two and two apiece.

Junior Tommy Federici (Swoyersville, PA) combined with three relievers to strike out five over seven innings for the Lightning, who have won eight of their last nine contests.

Goldey-Beacom (24-12, 8-4 CACC) in game one got off to a great start with three runs in the top of the first inning.  Kolmansberger scored on an error, Petrillo tallied on a wild pitch and Miller added an RBI groundout.

But the Tigers immediately rallied, receiving a two-run homer from Nick Lombardo in the first and an RBI single from Zach Morales in the second for a 3-3 tie.

Holy Family (15-19, 7-8) kept the pressure on in the fourth when an error scored Aidan Crean for a 4-3 contest.  Alex Camilo added an RBI single in the fifth for a two-run contest.

Brian Williams (2-0) came on in relief to strike out five over 5 2/3 scoreless inning, allowing just three hits for the win.  Casey Murphy tossed a perfect ninth inning for his first save of the year, ending the 3 1/2-hour marathon.

Senior Garrett Musey (Millville, NJ) and junior Dante DiSabatino (Middletown, DE) each had a double for the Lightning and Morales rapped three hits for the Tigers.

Goldey-Beacom on Sunday hosts Felician for a noon doubleheader at Doyle Field in Hockessin, DE.
