No. 23 Baseball Rolls to Sweep Over Bloomfield



No. 23 Goldey-Beacom recorded quick work of Bloomfield in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play with triumphs of 28-3 and 13-1 at Doyle Field in Hockessin, DE.
 
The Lightning recorded an incredible 16 hits and 15 strikeouts in game one, led on the mound by junior Ryan Pozo (Fords, NJ), who struck out six in 3.0 innings, and junior Tommy Federici (Swoyersville, PA) striking out five and allowing two hits in his first appearance back following injury last season.
 
Junior Matt Benner (Souderton, PA) played a solid game, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, and senior Darin Miller (Mifflinburg, PA) finished 3-for-4 with one RBI.
 
Last week's NCBWA East Region Hitter of the Week, junior Braden Kolmansberger (Lewisberry, PA), closed with two hits and two RBI, including a solo home run to begin the scoring.
 
Game two saw Goldey-Beacom (18-11, 4-3 CACC) led by sophomore Nate Miller (Mechanicsburg, PA), who struck out seven in 6.0 innings in the victory.
 
The second innings saw a massive eight run rally for the Lightning, including a grand slam from Kolmansberger to left field.
 
A further two runs off an RBI-single from junior Dante DiSabatino (Middletown, DE) and an RBI-double from senior Demetrius Johnson (Glassboro, NJ) pushed the lead to 10-1.
 
The Lightning sealed the 13-1 triumph on walks for junior Jimmy Hallman (Washington Township, NJ) and freshman Owen Knerr (Ocean City, MD).
 
Sophomore Anthony Charles (Mullica Hill, NJ) closed with two hits and one RBI, and six other Lightning players recorded one hit each.
 
Five players recorded one hit apiece for Bloomfield (0-6, 0-6 CACC).
 
Goldey-Beacom steps out of conference play on Tuesday with a single-game matchup against Shippensburg at 3:00 pm in Shippensburg, PA.
