Five-Timers Club: Zayon Marsh Picked to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll a Fifth Time

2/5/2024 12:00:00 AM

Goldey-Beacom sophomore Zayon Marsh (Maplewood, NJ), who has been an undeniable presence during the Men's Basketball team's outstanding season, today was picked to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Weekly Honor Roll for a fifth time.

Marsh continued to be major force for the Lightning, averaging 24.5 points on 55 percent shooting (17-of-31) and 10.5 rebounds over two games.  He scored 32 points – one shy of his career best – on 11-of-18 shooting to go with nine rebounds and six assists Saturday at Dominican (NY).  Marsh also had 17 points and 12 rebounds in Goldey-Beacom's 78-68 triumph Wednesday at Holy Family.

A solid player in the post on both sides of the court, Marsh in two seasons has kept the Lightning among of the top teams in the area and in the race for a conference title.  He was tabbed second team all-conference last year in addition to being picked the league's Rookie of the Week four times and to the Weekly Honor Roll on five occasions.

Marsh this season is fifth in the league with 16.9 points per game, sixth with 8.0 rebounds per contest and 13th with a .525 field goal percentage.  He is 17th in program history with 861 career points, sixth with 441 rebounds and sixth with 57 blocks.

Goldey-Beacom (13-9, 8-2 CACC) continues to be on a roll, sitting first in the CACC South Division in a season in which it has notched two four-game winning streaks and has won eight of its last 12 contests.  GBC owns a 2 1/2-game lead over second-place Jefferson (5-4).

GBC on Saturday hosts Caldwell at 3:00 pm, which follows the women's game between the same schools.
