Senior Darin Miller (Mifflinburg, PA) collected four hits, six RBI and fell a triple short of the cycle in helping Goldey-Beacom roll to a 10-0 victory over Saint Rose in Durham, NC.
After junior Jimmy Hallman (Washington Twp., NJ) homered in the second inning, it was obvious this would be the Lightning's day after four runs in the third with Miller at the plate made it 5-0. Hallman scored on a passed ball and Miller followed with a three-run homer.
Miller was far from done as GBC plated two more in the fifth for a 7-0 lead. After Demetrius Johnson (Glassboro, NJ) doubled and fellow senior Kyle Walker (Wilmington, DE) was hit by a pitch, Miller lined a two-run single.
Junior Dante DiSabatino (Middletown, DE) in the ninth inning lined an RBI double, Miller ripped a run-scoring single and senior Michael Baginski (Millville, NJ) lifted a sacrifice fly in the ninth for the final.
The six RBI for Miller is a career high and the four hits ties his personal best from last year's NCAA Tournament on May 20 against Queens (NY). During that tournament, he went on a tear batting .526 (10-for-19) with a double, three home runs and seven RBI.
Moorestown, NJ junior Wyatt Atkinson (1-0) allowed just three hits over five scoreless innings and junior Gage Bendix (Piscataway, NJ) struck four over three innings for the save.
Goldey-Beacom (3-1) in its three-game winning streak to end the trip plated 37 runs and twice did not permit more than two runs.
GBC on Friday is back in North Carolina to battle Frostburg State in Cary. First pitch in the doubleheader is at noon.
