Goldey-Beacom men's soccer clinched a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference tournament berth for the second year in a row after having a 7-1 home victory over Bloomfield.
The Lightning started off their scoring very quickly at the start of the game in the second minute of play off a header from senior Colby Niggebrugge (Middletown, DE), assisted by junior Lucas Fernandes (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) on the corner kick. Fernandes took another corner kick in the fourth minute and found freshman Daniel Granado (Seville, Spain) to finish with the header for his first goal of the game. Fernandes had his third assist one minute later in the fifth minute off a free kick to Granado again for his second goal of the game. Fernandes had his fourth assist in the eighth minute to senior Pedro Maia (Joao Pessoa, Brazil) who found the back of the net to give the Lightning a 4-0 lead after only eight minutes.
Junior Emanuel Bustos (Miami, FL) joined in on the scoring in the 38th minute of play for his first goal of the game, which was assisted by senior Cameron Michalak (Elkton, MD). Bustos scored his second goal of the game in the 44th minute off a great pass from freshman Ogün Ünal (Frankfurt, Germany).
Bloomfield had their lone goal in the 74th minute of play, scored by Cosme Fierro Villega. Freshman Koshis Gurung (King of Prussia, PA) scored his first career goal in the 82nd minute off a deflection from Bloomfield's goalkeeper, giving the Lighting the 7-1 victory.
Fernandes ended with four assists, all occurring within eight minutes and all on the first four goals. Granado and Bustos both finished with two goals apiece. Freshman goalkeeper Pedro Montanes (Zaragoza, Spain) finished with one save after only facing two shots on goal.
Matthew Brun finished with three saves in goal for Bloomfield.
Goldey-Beacom's conference tournament game with be a road contest Sunday, November 10 against an opponent to be determined.
Goldey-Beacom's next game is a non-conference match against Shepherd on Monday at 2pm at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE, its final regular season home contest of the year.
