Volleyball Handed 3-1 Setback by Bridgeport



Goldey-Beacom gave the reigning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference champions a run, but ended with a 3-1 loss (20-25, 14-25, 25-23, 19-25) to Bridgeport at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.
 
The Lightning in the third set were on the attack with 19 kills and a .273 hitting percentage, sending things to a fourth.  Junior Giuliana Jaku (Frontin, Italy) had four kills in the set with senior Piper Nanouski (Chicago, IL) adding three.
 
But the Purple Knights took over in the fourth, getting a 17-10 kills edge despite being forced into eight errors.
 
Jaku had 12 kills and 10 digs for her sixth double-double of the season, Nanouski recorded 10 and 10 for her first of the campaign and senior Caitlyn Burch (Mechanicsville, MD) pounded 12 kills for the Lightning (7-9, 1-3 CACC).  Freshman Gaby Fernandez (Arecibo, PR) notched 23 digs and senior Morgan Mendick (Bear, DE) recorded 32 assists.
 
Nanouski now is at 763 career kills, moving into seventh place on the school's career list.
 
Hailey Jensen had 18 kills and a .310 percentage, Lucia Tomiello recorded 15 kills and Jaden Drollinger added 49 assists for Bridgeport (10-6, 3-1).
 
Goldey-Beacom next Tuesday is at Jefferson for a 7:00 pm match.
