Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Handed 3-1 Loss at Georgian Court

Goldey-Beacom looked to strengthen its hold on a potential spot for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament, but was dealt a 3-1 loss by Georgian Court in Lakewood, NJ.

The teams in the opening half played mostly a defensive game until Goldey-Beacom tallied in the 30th minute.  Junior Emanuel Bustos (Miami, FL) had the ball on the left side and fed one in front to freshman Ogun Unal (Frankfurt, Germany), who placed a shot perfectly inside the right post for his second goal of the season.

The Lightning did everything they could to keep the Lions at bay, but were breached for the tying marker with 89 seconds left in the half.  Jack Pollintine-Smith ran down the left side and put home a low for just the home side's second shot of the half.

The next goal in a critical game for both squads was going to be key and it was the Lions in the 58th minute who got it.  Alessandro Cavallini got the ball on the right side inside the box and beat a solid defense to give Georgian Court a 2-1 edge.

Unal closed with six shots and junior Jamel Yasin (Woodbury, NJ) made four saves for the Lightning.

A myriad of players for the Lions (9-6-1, 7-3 CACC) recorded two shots and Ayendi Batista recorded four saves.

Goldey-Beacom (5-10, 4-5) remains in seventh place in the CACC with two games left.  The league's top eight teams advance to the quarterfinals.

Goldey-Beacom on Saturday is home against Bloomfield for a 1:00 pm contest on Senior Day.
