Goldey-Beacom women's soccer was handed a 5-2 loss by strong Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opponent Georgian Court in Lakewood, NJ.
Georgian Court opened its scoring early in the first half, when Chelsea Lavezzo scored her first of three goals in the ninth minute off of an assist from Sophia Ridolfo. Ridolfo added her own goal six minutes later. Lavezzo then scored her second goal in the 19th minute, assisted by Abby Kennelly, to give Georgian Court a quick 3-0 lead.
The Lightning got themselves on the board in the 21st minute of play when sophomore Miley Jones (Pemberton, N.J.) scored her first goal of the season, which was assisted by fellow sophomore Jade Balon (Smyrna, DE). Goldey-Beacom cut the lead to one early in the second when senior Jenna Campagna (Middletown, DE) found the back of the net in the 47th minute off the assist from freshman Ryley Dixon (Pilesgrove, NJ).
It was Dixon's team-best fifth assist and 17th point of the year.
Lavezzo completed her hat trick in the 68th minute, when she scored off of a penalty kick. This was Lavezzo's 14th goal of the season as a freshman. Georgian Court scored their fifth and final goal in the 73rd minute when Lavezzo assisted Seanna Boan for her fifth goal of the season.
For the Lightning, freshman goalkeeper Jennifer Klumpp (Hockessin, DE) finished with a career-high five saves. Emma Bennett finished with eight saves in goal for Georgian Court.
Goldey-Beacom plays next on Friday, November 8 against Wilmington (DE) for their final regular season game of the year.
