Goldey-Beacom defeated Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opponent, Jefferson, 2-0 on the road in Philadelphia, PA.
The Lightning were dealt a lucky hand in the first half when Jefferson had an own goal against themselves in the fifth minute of play, giving Goldey-Beacom the 1-0 lead very early in the game. The remainder of the half was played evenly by both sides, with GBC taking five shots and Jefferson taking six.
The first 20 minutes of the second half saw little action from either side until the 79th minute when senior Pedro Maia (Joao Pessoa, Brazil) scored his second goal of the season off of the assist from freshman Sam Ball (Salisbury, MD), giving the Lightning the 2-0 road victory.
Both goalkeepers ended with five saves a piece, junior Jamel Yasin (Woodbury, N.J.) for the Lightning and John Nelson for Jefferson.
Goldey-Beacom is on the road again next Wednesday, where they play Georgian Court in Lakewood, N.J. at 3pm.
