Game Recap: Volleyball |

Volleyball Dealt 3-0 Loss by Georgian Court

Goldey-Beacom looked to feed off momentum it built in the second set, but was handed a 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss (19-25, 24-26, 18-25) by Georgian Court at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

The Lightning in the middle set powered their way to a 15-7 run, getting help up and down the board to take a 19-15 lead.  Freshman Angelica Febres (San Juan, PR) simply was outstanding all night and this spurt encapsulated that, ending with three kills.

The margin got to 23-20 before the Lions turned things around with a 6-1 run.  Nylene Mateo recorded two kills in that time, including the final point.

GBC in the last set scored three straight in moving to 21-16, but Georgian Court went on a 4-2 run for the finale.

Senior Piper Nanouski (Chicago, IL) pounded 10 kills, junior Giuliana Jaku (Frontin, Italy) had nine and 12 digs, senior Caitlyn Burch (Mechanicsville, MD) notched eight kills, Febres amassed six, Gaby Fernandez (Arecibo, PR) had another solid outing with 18 digs and fellow freshman Ada Koksal (Istanbul, Turkiye) dished 27 assists for the Lightning (7-8, 1-2 CACC).

Mateo closed with 13 kills, Giorgia Cappelletti had nine, Iciar Zayad notched 20 assists and 10 digs with Carmen Rivera adding 12 digs for the Lions (6-5, 3-0).

Goldey-Beacom on Saturday is back in Pike Creek for Homecoming & Lightning Family Weekend.  The squad will face Bridgeport, beginning at noon.
