Goldey-Beacom men's soccer scored two second half goals to give them the 2-1 victory over Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opponent, Dominican (NY).
The first half saw relatively equal play from both sides, despite a penalty kick goal for Dominican from Armando Morales in the 24th minute. Both teams took six shots a piece in the first 45 minutes.
The Lightning tied the game midway through the second half when senior Colby Niggebrugge (Middletown, DE) had an impressive cross kick to freshman Sam Ball (Salisbury, Md.) for his third goal of the season.
Roles were then reversed in the 85th minute when Ball assisted Niggebrugge on his first goal of the season, leading to a 2-1 victory for the Bolts. GBC dominated on the offensive end in the second half, taking 13 shots compared to Dominican's four.
The Lightning were led in shots by Colby Niggebrugge, who took six and also by Ball who took four of his own. Freshman goalkeeper Pedro Montanes (Zaragoza, Spain) finished with four saves.
Goldey-Beacom plays again on Tuesday in Philadelphia, PA, where they face Jefferson at 2:30pm.
