Game Recap: Volleyball |

Volleyball Dealt 3-1 Loss by Wilmington (DE)

Goldey-Beacom did everything it could in the fourth set looking to take its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match with Wilmington to the distance, but was handed a 3-1 loss (25-22, 19-25, 24-26, 22-25) at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

Senior Caitlyn Burch (Mechanicsville, MD) played as if the fourth set was her personal showcase, getting three kills during a 7-0 run that gave the Lightning a 16-11 lead.  Senior Piper Nanouski (Chicago, IL) added two kills in the spurt.

But the Wildcats (11-10, 6-2 CACC) ended things with a 14-6 run, thanks to Eliza Schneider recording four kills and Alex Serna adding two.  Wilmington in the set was on the wrong end of a 16-14 kills edge, but notched a .323 hitting percentage and only committed four errors.

Nanouski closed with 20 kills, junior Giuliana Jaku (Frontin, Italy) pounded 14 and Burch added 11 for the Lightning (8-11, 2-5).  Ada Koksal (Istanbul, Turkiye) notched 42 assists and 10 digs for her fourth double-double of the season with fellow freshman Gaby Fernandez (Arecibo, PR) adding 21 digs and five aces.

Schneider recorded 19 kills and a .471 percentage with Serna and Karla Nunez-Rivera adding 10 kills apiece for Wilmington.  Karalyn Osborne had 29 assists and 10 digs with Gabby Barth getting 13 digs.

Goldey-Beacom on Saturday is home against Dominican (NY), beginning at noon.
