Basketball Gets Two More Picked for CACC Weekly Honors

1/29/2024 12:00:00 AM

More success on the basketball court for Goldey-Beacom saw Zayon Marsh (Maplewood, NJ) named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week and fellow sophomore Rory Ciszkowski (Wilmington, DE) picked to the league's Women's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll.

Marsh, a four-time selection this season to the league's Weekly Honor Roll, averaged 20.5 points and 8.0 rebounds over two games.  He scored 23 points on 8-of-15 shooting Tuesday as Goldey-Beacom corralled first place in the CACC South Division with an 83-78 victory at Wilmington.  Marsh then had 18 points Saturday in his squad's 85-80 triumph over Felician.

An explosive player who has been prolific for an explosive offense, Marsh is a major reason the Lightning have won three straight and seven of their last 10.  A second team All-CACC pick from last season, Marsh this season is sixth in the league with 16.0 points per game, sixth with 18 blocks, seventh with 7.7 rebounds per contest and 14th with a .522 field goal percentage.

In barely 1 1/2 seasons, Marsh is 18th in team history with 812 career points, sixth with 420 rebounds and sixth with 55 blocks.

The aforementioned lead for Goldey-Beacom (12-8, 7-1 CACC) stands at two games over Wilmington (5-3) and Jefferson (5-3).  The top two teams in each of the two divisions host a quarterfinal game in the CACC Tournament.

Ciszkowski makes the Weekly Honor Roll a fourth time this season after averaging 21.5 points on 15-of-22 shooting and 5.5 rebounds over two games, in addition to going 10-of-16 from three-point range.  She recorded career bests of 32 points on 11-of-15 shooting, nine 3-pointers and nine rebounds Tuesday in Goldey-Beacom's 78-46 rout at Wilmington.  Ciszkowski came back with 11 points Saturday in her squad's tough 56-55 loss to Felician.

One of the area's most prolific shooters, Ciszkowski has been a major catalyst for a young team which features seven newcomers and just two seniors.  She is second in the league with 55 three-pointers, third with a .410 three-point percentage and 13th with 12.7 points per contest.

Ciszkowski is sixth in school history with 120 career three-pointers.

Both teams on Wednesday are in action at Holy Family with the women's game at 6:00 pm and the men's at 8:00 pm.
