Goldey-Beacom saw the best season in program history end with a 111-78 loss at No. 4 Daemen in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Amherst, NY.

The loss concludes what truly was a historic campaign with Goldey-Beacom (21-11, 13-7 CACC) competing in the NCAA Tournament for the first time.  The squad broke the school record for most victories in a season and played in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference final for the fourth time.

It is the third postseason appearance in program history and second in the NCAA era.  Goldey-Beacom won the 2007 ECAC championship and competed in the 1999 NAIA Region 10 quarterfinals.

The Lightning went on an eight-game winning streak from January 6-February 3 and were on a four-game winning streak going into the conference final.  It also marked the fifth time the squad has reached at least 20 wins and the third under 10th-year coach TJ Dekmar

The accolades were plenty with sophomore Tre Powell (Mount Laurel, NJ) picked second team D2CCA All-East Region, first team All-CACC and to the CACC All-Tournament Team.  Emarquis Jones (Brooklyn, NY) was named third team All-CACC and to the league's all-tournament team with fellow junior Julian Williams (Fayetteville, NC) tabbed to the CACC All-Tournament Team.

The Wildcats in the opening half used a combination of great shooting and fortuitous bounces to open a 50-28 lead.  The home side shot 56 percent (19-of-34) from the field and saw multiple broken plays turn into baskets.

Benjamin Bill scored 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting with Justin Hemphill adding 12 for Daemen.  Sophomore Anthony Akande (Newark, NJ) netted eight points with Powell adding seven for GBC.

Powell finished with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting, ending the season with 620 points for the second-best mark in team annals.  Williams netted 17 points, senior Justin Allen (Boca Raton, FL) scored 13 with Akande adding 10 for the Lightning.

Bill netted 22 points, Hemphill scored 16 with Ryan Heath adding 14 for the Wildcats (31-1).
