Volleyball Falls 3-0 in Hard-Fought Play at Felician



Goldey-Beacom fought hard for three sets but was dealt a 3-0 (20-25, 23-25, 21-25) setback at Felician in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play in Rutherford, NJ.
 
The Lightning showed promise throughout the match, beginning the match by holding Felician to just four kills. But Felician bounced back in the second set, winning the kill count 17-10. The third set saw equal play, but the Golden Falcons edged the Lightning with a .382 hitting percentage to .258.
 
Juliana Malena (Miramar, FL) showed strong play, closing with 13 assists and seven digs, with fellow freshman Brenna Piller (Simsbury, CT) adding 11 and seven. Junior Damaris Rodriguez (Derwood, MD) stayed consistent on the defensive side, notching with nine digs, and junior Piper Nanouski (Chicago, IL) and sophomore Nina Bongiovanni (San Tan Valley, AZ) had seven and six kills for GBC (0-9, 0-6 CACC).
 
Sophia Watterson had 26 assists, Miquela Martinez had 13 digs and Megan Barker had 13 kills for Felician (4-11, 2-2).
 
Goldey-Beacom travels to Newark, DE on Tuesday to continue CACC play against Wilmington (DE) at 7:00 pm.
