Volleyball Plays Tough in 3-0 Loss at Wilmington (DE)



Goldey-Beacom continued to show tough play in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play, despite falling 3-0 (16-25, 21-25, 9-25) to Wilmington (DE) in Newark, DE.
 
The Lightning gave the Wildcats a run for their money in the first two sets, totaling 20 kills to the Wildcats 21.  The Wildcats took the third set by storm with a .320 hitting percentage.
 
Junior Piper Nanouski took control of the offensive side with nine kills, assisted by freshmen Brenna Piller (Simsbury, CT) and Juliana Malena (Miramar, FL) who notched 10 and nine assists, respectively. Piller and junior Damaris Rodriguez (Derwood, MD) continue to lead defensive play, closing with seven digs apiece for GBC (0-10, 0-7 CACC).
 
Brice Hansen had 11 kills and a .476 hitting percentage to go with 12 digs.  Katie Bushong had 22 assists for Wilmington (DE) (9-7, 3-2).
 
Goldey-Beacom hosts its Alumni Game on Saturday at 12:30 pm as part of Homecoming & Lightning Family Weekend. Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play resumes on Wednesday at 7:00 pm against Georgian Court at the Joseph West Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.
