Volleyball Has Crowd Fired Up in 3-1 Loss to Georgian Court



Goldey-Beacom played arguably its best match of the season and got the Jones Center crowd going in the third set during a 3-1 (14-25, 19-25, 25-13, 13-25) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss to Georgian Court in Wilmington, DE.
 
The third set for the Lightning produced a rout with the squad amassing 15 kills over 31 attacks for a .355 hitting percentage.  The defense also had the center's decibel count up, holding the Lions to a -.043 percentage and inducing six errors.
 
Junior Piper Nanouski (Chicago, IL) had seven kills in the set, freshman Ma'kayla Coats (Ann Arbor, MI) notched four and sophomore Megan Chesser (Grove City, OH) added three.
 
But Georgian Court ended things in the fourth, recording 16 kills over 25 attacks for a .560 percentage.  Alexa Houston notched five kills with Chelsea Ross and Martina Croce getting four apiece.
 
Chesser had a career-high seven aces, Nanouski recorded a season-best 13 kills, Brenna Piller (Simsbury, CT) notched 15 assists and 10 digs with fellow freshman Juliana Malena (Miramar, FL) adding 18 assists for the Lightning (0-11, 0-8 CACC).
 
Croce and Amiyah Woods had 11 kills apiece, Iciar Zayas dished 40 assists, Giorgia Cappelletti recorded 11 digs and Carmen Rivera added 10 for the Lions (9-8, 4-4).
 
Goldey-Beacom this Saturday visits Dominican (NY) for a noon match in Orangeburg, NY.
