Men's Soccer Battles in 3-1 Loss at Gannon



Goldey-Beacom was faced with a tough Gannon side and was dealt a 3-1 loss to close its trip to Erie, PA.

Despite a terrific save from junior Chris Jones (Denton, MD), a deflection found the feet of Rafa Hyde and that goal gave Gannon the lead in the ninth minute.

Another Gannon goal came in the 26th minute from James Paul, who was assisted by Pau Ferrer.

Goldey-Beacom was awarded a free-kick in the 49th minute and capitalized on the opportunity. Senior Eduardo Coimbra (Curitiba, Brazil) placed the ball at the opposite side post in perfect position for junior Cameron Michalak (Elkton, MD) to find the back of the net.

Gannon sealed the 3-1 win in the 76th minute with a goal from Herman Aanberg.

Coimbra had a solid game offering two shots and one assist with junior Kel Ordonez (Georgetown, DE) getting two shots. Jones totaled six saves in his debut.

Goldey-Beacom hosts Staten Island on Wednesday at 4:00 pm in its home opener at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.
