Volleyball Drops Hard-Fought, Three-Set Contest to Chestnut Hill

Goldey-Beacom arguably had its best contest of the season and overcame two match points, but in the end was dealt a 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss (24-26, 8-25, 26-28) by Chestnut Hill at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

The Griffins provided a key point in the match by scoring eight straight points, winning the last three of the opening set and the first five of the second.  Mia Caporellie had three aces in that span during the second set.

Goldey-Beacom in the final set held Chestnut Hill to just a .070 attack percentage and forced it into seven errors.  The Lightning got the Griffins to commit errors on each of the previous match points, but the latter overcame a game point and put the last three on the scoreboard for the win.

Juliana Malena (Miramar, FL) notched 11 assists, fellow freshman Brenna Piller (Simsbury, CT) amassed nine digs and junior Piper Nanouski (Chicago, IL) added six kills for the Lightning (0-6, 0-3 CACC).

Caporellie dished 23 assists to go with 11 digs, Rachel Mace pounded 10 kills, Torrin Kelley notched 13 digs and Erika Duboski had 12 for Chestnut Hill (2-4, 1-0).

Goldey-Beacom on Saturday is on the road to visit Holy Family for an 11:00 am match in Philadelphia, PA.
