Cross Country Places Second at Delaware State Invite; Dunkley Takes Third

Goldey-Beacom saw impressive finishes from both the men's and women's teams at the Delaware State Invite, with the men placing second and the women third in Dover, DE.
 
In the men's five-kilometer, the Lightning finished with a score of 50 points, with junior Kosiani Dunkley (Kingston, Jamaica) continuing to lead the way. Dunkley, repeat member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference honor roll, placed third in a time of 16:35.9.
 
Senior Zach Landvik-Larsen (Stroudsburg, PA) and freshman John Ferry (Rising Sun, MD) both saw top ten. Landvik-Larsen ran 16:46.6 to place sixth, and Ferry placed tenth with a time of 17:05.7.
 
Seniors Kyle Scherer (Wilmington, DE) and Chris Crossen (Magnolia, DE) placed 15th and 16th respectively with times of 17:40.4 and 17:56.4.
 
Junior Micah White (Plainfield, NJ) ran a time of 18:16.9 to place 20th and fellow junior Yusef Shakur (Townsend, DE) placed 28th in a time of 18:47.5. Freshman Felipe Henao (Bogota, Colombia) ran 19:08.9 to place 33rd, while juniors Tymir Ash-Shaheed (Middletown, DE) and DJ Farren (Lewes, DE) followed closely in 36th and 37th place with times of 19:43.9 and 19:47.4.
 
Senior Erik Guyer (Middletown, DE) rounded out the team in 46th place with a time of 21:17.1.
 
On the women's side, junior Ny'jashia Smith (Newark, DE) led the team in 11th place with a time of 22:03.3. Fellow juniors Maddie Minnick (Wilmington, DE) and Madelynn Cool (Smyrna, DE) placed closely behind in 15th and 16th place with times of 22:34.2 and 22:45.8 respectively.
 
Senior Kamillah Monroque ran a time of 22:54.4 to place 19th and sophomore Haley Schofield (Wilmington, DE) closed out the team in 22nd place with a time of 23:11.5.
 
Goldey-Beacom travels to Media, PA on Friday, September 29 to compete in the Dan Talbot Open. The men's race begins at 5:00 pm and the women's at 5:45 pm.
