Volleyball Falls, 3-0, at Georgian Court



Goldey-Beacom again showed solid play against strong competition from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, but was handed a 3-0 loss (12-25, 17-25, 10-25) at Georgian Court in Lakewood, NJ.
 
Goldey-Beacom in the second set displayed plenty of fight with seven kills and saw just three errors.  Junior Piper Nanouski (Chicago, IL), Ma'kayla Coats (Ann Arbor, MI) and fellow freshman Ngozi Nwosu (Brockton, MA) had two kills apiece for the Lightning.
 
Georgian Court in that set countered with 14 kills and just five errors for a .273 hitting percentage.
 
Unfortunately, the Lions in the third set scored 12 straight points to open a 13-1 lead.  Nylene Mateo recorded three kills in that time.
 
Morgan Mendick (Bear, DE) had nine digs, fellow junior Damaris Rodriguez (Derwood, MD) notched eight, freshman Eva Eanes (Nokesville, VA) amassed seven assists and Nanouski recorded five kills for the Lightning (0-5, 0-2 CACC).
 
Mateo had 12 kills, Iciar Zayas totaled 25 assists and nine digs with Jessica Sprankle adding eight digs for the Lions (4-2, 1-0).
 
Goldey-Beacom is home next Tuesday against Chestnut Hill, beginning at 7:00 pm.
