Men's Soccer Play Valiantly in 3-2 Loss at Pitt-Johnstown

Goldey-Beacom played valiantly in a 3-2 loss against Pitt-Johnstown in non-conference play in Johnstown, PA.

Both teams saw a number of chances in the first half, but Pitt-Johnstown were the first to find the net after Josh Sollars finished a cross from Anson Portzline in the 16th minute.

However, Lightning did not let up and struck in the 39th minute with junior Tiwalade Ogunfadebo (New Castle, DE) assisting fellow junior Sincere Kato (Woodbury, NJ) to level up the score to 1-1 by half time.

The second half provided eventful play with early goals from both teams. In the 57th minute, Jacob Palange was assisted by Portzline and Ryan Kyei Boahen to give Pitt-Johnstown the lead.

The Lightning continued strong play to tie the score up once again at 2-2 after senior Eduardo Coimbra (Curitiba, Brazil) found the back of the net off a free kick.

But it was Pitt-Johnstown who closed the score at 3-2 after Alexzander Toto scored a penalty kick.

Kato and Coimbra finished with three shots apiece and junior Oliver Person (Ski, Norway) had two. Freshman Aeddan Jones (Chester, England) totaled three saves for GBC (1-3-0).

Toto had four shots, and Sollars and Jaegar James had three shots each for Pitt-Johnstown (1-1-0).
