Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Strong Defense Buoys Women’s Soccer to 0-0, Season-Opening Tie vs. Bloomsburg

Goldey-Beacom saw outstanding defense prevail against a perennially strong Bloomsburg side for a 0-0, season-opening draw at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.

That defense got a huge boost from senior Samantha Emmi (Logan Twp., NJ), who made several outstanding plays in the box that took away many scoring opportunities for the Huskies.

Also on the spot was junior goalkeeper Nikki Cashin (Ridley, PA), who made eight saves that included five in the second half.

Bloomsburg produced strong play on offense, but could not breach the aforementioned defense.  Lauren Bull had five shots with Sydney Hoover, Aubrey Hondros and Beth Stephens adding two apiece.

Riley Spingler made three saves for the Huskies (0-0-1).

Freshmen Jade Balon (Smyrna, DE), Lexy Yeager (West Deptford, NJ) and Miley Jones (Pemberton, NJ) had a shot each for the Lightning (0-0-1).

Goldey-Beacom is home Saturday to face Millersville, beginning at 1:00 pm.
