CACC Announces Volleyball Preseason Poll

8/23/2023 12:00:00 AM

An experienced squad, a renewed sense of enthusiasm and a deeper roster spells nothing but great things for Goldey-Beacom, which saw the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference announce its preseason poll based on a vote of the league's coaches.

A key to the entire equation is junior outside hitter Piper Nanouski (Chicago, IL), who is a solid player at the net and also gives the Lightning strong defense.  A great leader and one of the best teammates at the College, Nanouski ended last season 19th in the CACC with 242 kills, 41st with 180 digs and 44th with 25 aces.

Sophomore libero Claudia Camporro (Gijon, Spain) was a more than welcomed addition to the defense and this proved vital throughout the entire season.  An enthusiastic player who gives her all during every point, she finished the campaign 20th in the league with 278 digs and had double figures in digs 15 times.

Sophomore middle blocker Megan Chesser (Grove City, OH) presents the Lightning strong play at the net with her great hitting and blocking ability.  Looking to get even more playing time this season, Chesser ended a season ago 18th in the CACC with 52 blocks, 38th with 26 aces and 49th with 115 kills.

The squad welcomes seven newcomers that brings the roster size to 15, thanks to the work of second-year coach Taylor Rapuano.  Prior to serving the 2021 season as an assistant, Rapuano was head coach at A.I. duPont High School during the 2020 campaign after she was the school's assistant coach and head JV coach the prior season.  She also was a digital design teacher for two years in the Red Clay Consolidated School District.

Goldey-Beacom opens its season September 5 at home against Mercy.
