4/17/2023 12:00:00 AM

Goldey-Beacom got four more picked for weekly awards by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference with junior Jake Kelchner (Collegeville, PA) named Baseball's Pitcher of the Week, sophomore Christian Petrillo (New Brunswick, NJ) picked to the sport's Weekly Honor Roll along with sophomores Morgan McLane (Clayton, DE) and Alex Lowry (Wenonah, NJ) making Softball's Weekly Honor Roll.

Kelchner struck out six over eight scoreless innings, allowing no walks in Goldey-Beacom's 5-0 victory Friday over Wilmington.

Kelchner has been more than a welcomed addition to the Lightning's rotation, giving the squad stability and reliability in crucial games.  He has notched at least five strikeouts on five occasions, won two of his last three starts and has pitched at least five innings in each of his last six outings.

Petrillo batted .400 (6-for-15) on the week with two doubles and two RBI.  He had two hits Sunday in game two at Felician that included an RBI double and now is riding a six-game hitting streak.

It has been more than a solid campaign for Petrillo, who has been a mainstay in the leadoff spot and in center field with his incredible speed, outstanding coverage of the outfield and strong hitting.  He is third in the league with 20 stolen bases, third with 48 hits, 10th with a .361 batting average and 10th with a .456 on base percentage.

McLane went 2-1 with one save and 17 strikeouts over 17 2/3 innings.  She had a career-high 11 strikeouts Wednesday against Chestnut Hill in a six-hit shutout, recorded the save in game two with 1 2/3 scoreless frames and struck out four in allowing just one hit over six innings Saturday at Alliance.

McLane once again is giving the Lightning incredible play in the circle and is one of the main reasons for the program's turnaround the last two years.  She is first in the league with five saves, fourth with 80 strikeouts, 11th with six wins and 12th with a 3.00 ERA.  McLane also is sixth in team history with 154 strikeouts, tied for seventh with 16 wins and first in saves (with such records only available since 2008) with five.

Lowry batted .368 (7-for-19) on the week with a double, two triples, a home run and five RBI.  She had two hits in each game Wednesday against Chestnut Hill, including a triple and an inside-the-park home run.  Lowry also notched two hits Saturday in game two at Alliance.

Lowry has been one of the Lightning's most versatile players, giving the squad great play in the outfield and the left side of the infield.  She is second in the CACC with seven triples, 14th with 11 stolen bases, 14th with 26 RBI, 17th with 42 hits and 30th with a .339 batting average.
