Baseball Rolls to Doubleheader Sweep at Alliance

Goldey-Beacom in both Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games recorded quick work of Alliance and made it victories in eight of its last nine contests with triumphs of 23-6 and 17-2 at SIUH Community Park in Staten Island, NY.

Goldey-Beacom (18-9, 4-1 CACC) in the first game went wild in breaking the school record for most runs a second time this season, topping the 21 runs it plated eight days ago vs. Alliance.  The 19 hits are a season high and the four triples ties the school record from March 24, 2017 at Chestnut Hill.

Sophomore Braden Kolmansberger (Lewisberry, PA) went off with a school-record two triples to go with a personal-high six RBI and a career-best-tying three hits.  His two-run triple in the third inning gave the Lightning a 6-1 lead and his three-run triple in the fifth made it 14-1.

Senior Johnny Kampes (Colora, MD) again continued his remarkable play, rapping a career-best four hits to go with three RBI, including an RBI single in the fifth and a two-run double in the seventh.  He is riding an 11-game hitting streak.

Senior Marlon Lindsey Jr. (Lafayette Hill, PA) and junior Demetrius Johnson (Glassboro, NJ) had two RBI apiece with Johnson, Darin Miller (Mifflinburg, PA), fellow junior Kyle Walker (Wilmington, DE) and sophomore Christian Petrillo (New Brunswick, NJ) each getting two hits.

Moorestown, NJ sophomore Wyatt Atkinson (2-0) struck out five over five innings, yielding one run, one walk and five hits.  Junior Lance Hinton (Wilmington, DE) struck out two over two innings, surrendering just one run.

Sam Abreu went 4-for-4 with two RBI for Alliance (1-24, 0-6).

Game two also was a triples fest with the Lightning getting three more, bringing their total on the day to seven.  Kolmansberger continued his red-hot afternoon with his second, three-run triple on the day with one occurring in the third inning for an 11-0 lead.

Kolmansberger closed with four RBI in the game, bringing his daily total to 10.  Johnson and Miller amassed two hits apiece.

Goldey-Beacom plated five runs in the first inning, two in the second and five in the third that also saw Johnson get an RBI double for a 12-0 margin.  The squad added four more in the seventh for the final that was aided by a two run triple from Walker, who now has a school-record 26-game hitting streak and a hit in 44 of his last 45 contests.

Mount Bethel, PA freshman Kevin Dillon (2-0) notched his second straight win over Alliance, striking out seven over six innings and allowing just two runs and five hits.
